St. Joseph Grade School broke ground on its new Grade School and Middle School August. 22 , 2007. The new $6 million school will feature two classrooms per grade that are larger and more spacious, a science lab, computer lab and library, a middle-school regulation size gymnasium, and an elevator. Once completed, the building will house pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students. The building was designed by Ed Tucker and Associates, a Huntington architectural firm. The construction manager is Jarrett Construction from Charleston. Funds to pay for the construction of the building were raised through contributions from church members, parents of students currently enrolled, members of the community and assistance from the Wheeling/Charleston Diocese of the Catholic Church. This new building will allow us to offer our students a much more up-to-date facility and a brighter atmosphere in which to learn. The new school will accommodate more than 400 students. Currently, there are 266 students enrolled in the school, which includes a nursery for infants, a preschool for children up to five-years-old and the elementary school which encompasses kindergarten through sixth grade.
